Historical milestones

  • June 16th, 1925 – The company’s first operation in United States was established June 16th, 1925, when Uddeholm opened a facility in New York, main office was located in Manhattan at the 30th floor (155 E 44th street) a couple of blocks from Grand Central Station, the main warehouse in Long Island City, New York.
  • Spring 1965 -, the company moved away from the central Manhattan to Totowa, near Paterson, New Jersey. To a 40,000 square feet warehouse and a 12,000 square feet office. When they sold that building in 1988, they made a 3.5M dollar profit – not a bad deal!
  • 1988 – Uddeholm moved in 1988 to Illinois; they established a warehouse in Itasca and a head office in Rolling Meadows both outside Chicago.  Donna Chambers is today the only person within the group that worked in the Rolling Meadows “ Ivory Tower”.
  • 2008 – Year 2008 the grand opening of the state-of-the-art Elgin facility , with the goal in mind;  “To design and build an efficient World Class Service Center which allows Bohler-Uddeholm to service our customers in hours, not days!”
