2006.09.08 - Uddeholm Tooling AB and Camito AB signs co-operation agreement

Uddeholm Tooling AB and Camito AB have signed a co-operation agreement in order to support material selection and to help develop techniques when producing cast tools to the automotive industry; so called Camito tools for production of automotive car bodies. The co-operation also includes an agreement regarding marketing initiatives and market development, in regards to the total Camito concept.

Camito has developed a method to cast grey and nodular iron with tool steel for production of blanking and forming tools in the automotive industry; the so called Camito method. The process eliminates former time-consuming operations which were previously done by hand when constructing tools.  New tools  will now be produced through one-piece casting.

As the production of tools for new automotive projects are extremely time-consuming and often create a bottleneck in the production, the new technique has been very positively received by companies such as Volvo Karosskomponenter AB, Saab Automotive AB and Audi AG, to name a few.

The foundry which was developed two years ago has been built up at Uddeholm Tooling in Hagfors and will be certified this year according to the demands of Camito and the automotive industry. This certifying process has been initiated and production will hopefully start during this autumn.
