REACH

The REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) in the European Union is now the official European directive on chemicals and replaces some passages of currently applicable guidelines. It became effective on 1st of June 2007. REACH regulates procedures applied in dealing with substances by itself as well as in preparations or articles. This regulation includes all substances whether they exhibit dangerous characteristics or not.

To introduce REACH, we have set up a team within the Operational Management System to specially implement the Regulation.The team has identified all substances manufactured/imported and their corresponding volumes.

In order to fulfil its obligations as manufacturer and importer of substances, preparations and articles, Uddeholms AB intends to fully comply with the REACH regulation. The initial stage of REACH focuses on the registration of substances where the total manufactured, or imported quantities into the European Union, exceed 1000 Kg per year. Before the end of November 2008 all relevant substances will have been pre-registered. Companies that have not pre-registrated a substance until this time limit, must suspend manufacturing or importing it after December 1st 2008 until they have submitted a full registration dossier for the European Union.

We are committed to making our customer’s transition into REACH as smooth as possible and we will inform our customers as soon as relevant changes become apparent.

At Uddeholms AB, we will fulfil our responsibility to provide our raw material suppliers with sufficient information for the safety assessments concerning uses of our products.
The implementation of REACH is an ongoing work as the legislation will require further cooperation between customers and suppliers. We appreciate your support in this matter and look forward working with you.
